Points to Consider While Flying With Your Digital Camera [cameras]

Insurance is not really the answer if your camera is of the just point and shoot variety. You should consider to insured your camera, if it is an advanced or SLR model. Ensure that you study the insurance policy to know whether it provides coverage for lost, damaged or stolen cameras and also if the policy applies only for in-airport handling or extends to the place you are traveling to.

Unpredictable weather can be one of the biggest threats to your camera while traveling. Extreme weather conditions like heat, rain and snow should be kept from your camera in order to keep it safe. If you think your camera might be exposed to water or extreme environmental conditions, consider protecting it with a sealed plastic bag or a cybershot case. Stop camera use immediately if condensation begins to develop inside it or on its surface.

In case you lose your camera, be sure that you have some type of identifying mark and means of contact on it while traveling. It is a good idea to put a small label or a tag on your camera and camera case with your identification details like your name, email address and the phone number of the place you are staying at along with your own personal contact number. If you don't want to stick anything on your camera, you can simply take a photo of a piece of paper filled with similar information and make sure it is on the first frame of the memory card.
